Helena Whitten is a graduate artist and photographer working in the southwest of England. She has studied fine art in both Devon and Somerset, and currently balances her time between creating remarkable photographs, and working to support communities with their resilience to climate change.
Her images are concerned with time and decay, and often hint at a narrative. She specialises in long exposure motion blur work, and often combines her photographs with free-verse poetry in carefully handmade books.
She is drawn to exploration of old and abandoned places, empty storm-battered beaches, and deep ancient woodlands. Her ‘girl in the white dress’ has become the brave protagonist who weaves a path throughout her most recent works.
